• How do I set up Webroot SpySweeper to work with McGruff SafeGuard?

  Click here if you are using Enterprise SpySweeper.

  Spysweeper will either identify the actions performed by McGruff SafeGuard monitoring software as spyware, or it will simply prevent McGruff SafeGuard from performing basic tasks such as accessing the Windows Registry.  If Spysweeper prevents McGruff SafeGuard monitoring software from operating correctly, you need to set Spysweeper to allow McGruff SafeGuard monitoring software completely.

  When SpySweeper  identifies the actions performed by McGruff SafeGuard monitoring software as spyware.  It may identify McGruff SafeGuard as ChatChecker.

  

  Select Always Take this Action, and click No. 

   

  Click here for a list of programs and websites that you should allow to have full access.

Click Ignore.

If you accidentally clicked Yes in the first warning message, you need to clear that setting in SpySweeper.  You may see both imbrella chatchecker and mcgruff safeguard:

• Webroot Spysweeper with AntiVirus

 If you get messages from Spysweeper about quarantining software while installing McGruff SafeGuard, you need to fix it.  You may also get the error:

 

You need to fix two things: Quarantine and Always Allow programs.

1. Open up Spysweeper, click on the Options button, and select Always Apply.  Find the program with "imbrella chatchecker" and "mcgruff safeguard" and click on that line.  Then click the button Always Ignore:

2. Now click on the Quarantine button, and select the line with "imbrella chatchecker" and "mcgruff safeguard".  Click the button Restore Selected Items.

You may also get the following SpySweeper Alert.  Click the Keep button:

 

3. Reboot your PC.

4. Download and reinstall McGruff SafeGuard.

5. Answer the questions (starting with your account name and password).

• I am concerned that my child may use SpySweeper to find McGruff SafeGuard

 First, instruct SpySweeper to ignore McGruff SafeGuard monitoring software:

1. Re-install the software that was removed by Spy Sweeper with AntiVirus.
2. Open Spy Sweeper with AntiVirus.
3. Click Options on the left of your screen.
4. Click Always Apply tab at the top of your screen.
5. Locate and select your item and you can set the permissions using the buttons on the right side.  In this case, you would click Always Ignore.

Spy Sweeper with AntiVirus will not attempt to detect, remove, or interact with McGruff SafeGuard on this PC.

If you were to add a password to the Spy Sweeper r options menu you can prevent changes to the Spy Sweeper from being made.
