• Upgrading the McGruff SafeGuard monitoring software - McGruff SafeGuard Free & McGruff SafeGuard Plus

Visit www.GoMcGruff.com/Download.htm and download the new version, and then install it. 

• You will first be asked if you want to uninstall the old version.  Click YES.
• The new version will be installed, and the setup will begin.
• Provide your username, just like you did the first time you installed McGruff SafeGuard.
• McGruff SafeGuard monitoring software will run through its configuration and self-diagnostics.

• Does McGruff SafeGuard monitoring software upgrade itself periodically?

No, because firewalls can unintentionally show your children that McGruff SafeGuard is installed on the PC.

When firewall software (such as Norton, McAfee or ZoneAlarm) detects new software contacting the Internet, it pops up a window asking if that's OK.  Automatic installation of a new version of McGruff SafeGuard monitoring software could cause that to occur.

Instead, you will be notified from time to time when a new version is available.  After you install it, the configuration and self-diagnostics ensure that all pop=up windows occur during that configuration, and not later when your child is using the PC.

• I changed/upgraded my firewall software and now McGruff SafeGuard isn't working

You must let McGruff SafeGuard monitoring software run through its configuration and self-diagnostics, just like the first time you installed it.

• How do I upgrade from McGruff SafeGuard Free to McGruff SafeGuard Plus?

You can purchase the upgrade from McGruff SafeGuard to McGruff SafeGuard Plus after you sign in to the McGruff SafeGuard website.

You don't need to reinstall any software on the PCs that you are monitoring.  All upgrading occurs at the McGruff SafeGuard website.  Once the purchase has been confirmed, you will receive a confirmation email.

The next time you login to McGruff SafeGuard, at the top of the page you will see one of these items:

• I upgraded from McGruff SafeGuard Free, but when I install McGruff SafeGuard on my PC, it keeps installing the same software

The McGruff SafeGuard monitoring software you install on each desktop is the same regardless of which edition of McGruff SafeGuard you've upgraded to.

Your upgrade information is stored at the McGruff SafeGuard website, and the website tells the McGruff SafeGuard recording software how to behave.  You can verify which edition of McGruff SafeGuard you have upgraded to by signing in to the McGruff SafeGuard website and clicking SETTINGS / MY ACCOUNT.
