YouTube Safe Mode

YYou have the following options for controlling YouTube videos:


  • ALLOW ONLY SAFE YOUTUBE/font> will allow your child to watch safe YouTube videos (even if you denied the category ONLINE AUDIO AND VIDEO).  The video is categorized based on the name and description of the video.  If the video's category is not permitted (based on your filter settings), the video is denied.  In addition, if your child searches for a video on YouTube and the search phrase is not child appropriate, the search is denied.

  • DENY YOUTUBE will NOT allow your child to watch any videos on YouTube (even if you allowed the category ONLINE AUDIO AND VIDEO).  This is the default setting.

  • ALLOW YOUTUBE will allow your child to watch ALL YouTube videos (even if you denied the category ONLINE AUDIO AND VIDEO).

    Restricting the YouTube App

    To disable the YouTube app, you now need to lock the iPhone/iPad to prevent your child from using browsers other the McGruff SafeGuard browser.

    In the same way that you restricted the SAFARI app, select SETTINGS / GENERAL / RESTRICTIONS, enter your passcode, and you will see the current restrictions:



    On this screen, set YouTube to OFF.  This will prevent your child from using the YouTube app - the YouTube button will no longer appear on the device.  Your child can watch YouTube videos by visiting the YouTube website when using the McGruff SafeGuard Browser.
